Islamic economics in a digital library: IsDBI updates its reader

On 15 September, the Islamic Development Bank Institute (IsDBI) announced Reader 2.0, an updated app for its electronic publications. The news concerns access to knowledge about Islamic economics, finance and sustainable development.
What changes for readers
According to the institute, the update synchronizes notes and reading positions across devices, supports searches within books and offers personal collections. These are the developer’s stated features; Iqtisad has not independently tested the application.
Making useful reading choices
Our editorial suggestion is to start with a specific question. How, for example, does a study describe the allocation of risk between business partners? Record the definition, its source and the conditions under which it applies. This helps distinguish a general principle from an individual contract.
An educational publication does not by itself establish whether a particular financial product is permissible. That requires the product’s documents and an appropriate specialist assessment.
Access to the app does not make the entire collection free: the announcement describes purchasing publications through the institute’s website. Check the language, price and access conditions before downloading a book. The update is an opportunity to consult original sources, not a basis for promising a ready-made investment solution.
